Berigan.....the stand-out voice of the swing age; edgy, quavering ,different...yet his singing is lost in time, giving way to the exigencies of swing band playing....but this one song is all we need today, to remind us that once upon a time, singing was beautiful.

whatever the take or version that you prefer or whether the backstory is true or not it is still a great song.

This is almost too painfully beautiful to hear!!!

If only we could hear Bunny play, " Sleepy Lagoon"

Always loved this record but was so disappointed that Bunny died so young through self-inflicted alcaholism. Fortunately, he left us a timeless classic.

I gave mum’s V Disk of Bunny’s Can’t Get Started... I occasionally, play it on my turntable..,

I like sall sorts of music, but this just may be my favorite song of all. Truly great lyrics and instrumentals. And all in one take. Just superb. I heard this when I was a little girl and I have loved it ever since.
