Ignoring for a moment USA’s attempt to suppress freedom using napalm, the 1960s was anera of love and light with legendary songs being created literally every week. Dance halls became temples, led of course in the U.K.  by Sheffield’s Mojo Club. Everyone took great pride in their appearance and fashion almost changed by the month for both males and females.  In the U.K. there were jobs and money a plenty, and one could taste magic in the air.     Of course we all had our own favourite musical artists. That was difficult  as one tripped over talent. But if forced then likely I would choose J.R. Whilst his output of top drawer material did not come close to say the Beatles, the Stones and others his great songs surpassed being  ‘very special.’  They are poignant moody tear jerkers, with lyrics which almost every mature person can clearly identify with. And they embrace a magic which truly was the 60s, and for which no words can ever do justice. Fortunately they speak for themselves. Just listen.
