This song was written by Ernest Seitz a Canadian mainly classical pianist. The words are by his University of Toronto classmate Gene Lockhart ( from London ,Ontario) who went on to a long career as a movie actor in the USA ( whose daughter had the lead in all the "Lassie" movies). In 1944 Seitz examined me in Grade 6 at the Hamilton Ontario Conservatory of Music
