I agree as soon as I heard him dinging My Old Man I learned it and played it a lot . My father was in the navy but the sentiment is the same . Tyvm John Prine. Qusetion anyone ? I thought Mr. Prine wrote thus about Steve Goodman after he moved on , who is it that Steve is singing this about a woman . Hmmmmmm?

An American icon. Had the pleasure of seeing this gentleman open for John Prine in 1980 at University Of Alberta. One of the greatest writers of our generation. Thanks for all the great music , Steve, rest in peace, brother.

It’s the blue suit and red plaid shirt! I think if you look there are some pretty famous people who came to see him when that was filmed. I used to know, but now I am not so sure. People like his best friend John Prine, Lulu Roman I think maybe Stephen Stills, people like that. Guitarists who wanted to see his amazing skills, songwriters who envied his turn of phrase. I think it was filmed over a couple nights, just wonderful. However there is some footage of him in black and white opening for Janis Ian that is more relaxed and you get more of his quirky personality.. Thank you for posting this.
