Saw a performance of this in Melbourne, with June Bronhill, Simon Gallagher and Jon English at the concert hall in 1984. An evening I wont forget for many more years. Also took part in this at school in 1959 !! 1960 I was in the Mikado, perhaps my favourite of all of them.

The conductor is giving the the first beat of each measure. I believe this song is in 2/4 . So he gives them the first beat, they play two 16 ths and he gives them beat one again.

Who on earth were the fabulous singlettes? I saw the Mikado show by this company, but to this day I have no idea about them.

Bahahaha, that gag at the end, setting up a rhyme for "lesbians" and changing at the last moment to Presbyterians. Pure gold.
